Meet Ellen Burgoyne Hubrig, the creative spirit behind Ellen's Fine Art.

Ellen is a self-taught artist from Philadelphia, PA and when she moved to Knoxville, TN in 1988 she joined the Tennessee Artists Association and was President in 1993-94. She started showing her photography and won several awards from 1989-1991 then began a business painting floor cloths, murals and faux finishes.

She participated in the Knoxville Symphony Showhouse for six years until 2002 before life changed and painting ceased. Twenty years later, in the fall of 2024 she stumbled upon “Artist on Location”, plein air painters in Knoxville. She immediately began to volunteer in the field and joined a local group to give it a try as the outdoors is her happy place.

She is working primarily with oils which is a new challenge as are the outdoor elements. In June of 2025 she won second place at her first event with the Johnson County Center for the Arts. In August, she had a piece juried into the Oak Ridge Art Center Open Show.

She looks forward to continuing the fun adventures, learning through workshops, volunteering and sharing as best she can what inspires her in the southern landscapes and God’s creation.

Ellen is a member of the Knoxville Museum of Art, the Knoxville Cultural Alliance, Tennessee Artist Association and Tuesday Painters (a Plein Air Group).
